CONTENT VOLUNTEER: Your role is to write content, whether it's about mental health, health and hygiene, or essential skills—you get to choose. Optionally, you can also deliver your write-ups through videos or reels. Your content, whether written or in video form, should inform, inspire, and drive action.
DESIGN VOLUNTEER: Your role is to create visually appealing and engaging social media posts on Instagram with the content we provide you with. The designs you create should capture attention.
ON-SITE VOLUNTEER—HEALTH AND HYGIENE:
Session 1 (40 minutes): Introduce the importance of basic health and hygiene by explaining the causes and consequences of poor hygiene. Discuss how neglecting hygiene can lead to illnesses and affect overall well-being, using relatable examples to connect with the students.
Session 2 (60 minutes): Teach essential health and hygiene practices, such as regular handwashing, using sanitizer, maintaining bathroom hygiene, and menstrual hygiene.
Session 3 (30 minutes): Conduct a simple and engaging pepper-and-soap experiment to demonstrate the effectiveness of soap in removing germs. In this experiment, pepper sprinkled on water represents germs. When students dip a soapy finger into the water, the pepper scatters, illustrating how soap repels germs. This hands-on activity reinforces the importance of staying clean.
ON-SITE VOLUNTEER—MENTAL HEALTH
Session 1 (50 minutes): Introduce the concept of mental health by explaining it as the way we think, feel, and handle our emotions in everyday life. Use simple language to help students understand that mental health is just as important as physical health. Talk about common emotions like happiness and sadness, explaining that it's normal.
Session 2 (40 minutes): In this activity, students play a game of charades where they act out different emotions like happiness, anger, or sadness while their classmates guess the emotion. After each turn, discuss what might cause that emotion.
Session 3 (50 minutes): This session guides students to explore ways to manage emotions based on their personal interests, such as art, sports, yoga or dance. They are encouraged to reflect on activities that make them feel calm and in control. The session concludes by emphasizing the importance of seeking support and encouraging students to connect with our mental health expert if they need help.
ON-SITE VOLUNTEER—ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Session 1 (40 minutes): CREATIVITY
Creativity manifests in various forms such as art, music, and writing: this session will begin with a discussion on diverse forms of creativity and its importance. Following this, students will engage in a painting activity where they depict what they want most in life. This exercise encourages free expression and helps them visualize their aspirations.
Session 2 (50 minutes): TEAM-WORK
Students will participate in a balloon relay, where pairs balance a balloon between their backs and race to the finish line without dropping it. Talk about how this activity involves coordination, trust, and mutual support. In the next challenge, each student receives a balloon and a pin, with the goal of being the last one with an unpopped balloon. Naturally, competition leads to all balloons being popped. The debrief will focus on how collaboration rather than competition could have resulted in collective success.
Session 3 (60 minutes): COMMUNICATION AND LEADERSHIP
Effective communication is essential to leadership. Students will engage in a “Pick and Speak” activity, where they draw a topic from a jar and speak on it for one minute. Feedback will be provided on confidence, clarity, and body language to help them refine their communication skills. Following this, they will participate in a leadership challenge which maybe a sport, skit, or a fun activity of your choice.
